Q

Advantages of independent groups/measures

A

Participants are less likely to guess the aim of the study
No order effects -meaning participants don’t get fatigued or bored and perform worse in the second task however they also don’t get more practice and become better in the second condition.

Q

Independent group/measures disadvantages

A

There may be differences between the two group groups of people
Examples such as intelligence

6
Q

What are an advantage of repeated measures?

A

There’s no participant variables between the conditions
And fewer participants

Q

Disadvantage of repeated measures

A

There are order effects- however can be addressed by counter balancing-1/2 do 1 first then do condition 2 where as the other 1/2 do condition 2 first then condition 1

Q

What are match pairs?

A

Independent groups, but participants are matched on qualities relevant to experiment
Examples, age IQ and occupations

Q

An advantage of much pairs

Q

Disadvantage of match pairs

A

Participants can never be much perfectly is there will still be some different variables
Time consuming and expensive to use this design
