Data Analysis And Presentation Flashcards
What is qualitative data
Data in the form of words
Rick and detailed
Often produced by case studies or unstructured interviews
What is quantitative data
Data in the form of numbers
More lab and closed questions
What is primary data
Collected by researcher for study
Secondary data
Collected by another researcher for the purpose of another study
Evaluation primary data
Fits the study perfectly
Researcher has Controll
Requires more time and effort
Evaluation of secondary data
Potentially less time consuming and expensive
Not perfect match to study
Quality cannot be controlled
What is meta analysis
Very large sample make it easier to generalise results
Many be variation in quality
As it studies the studies with significant results as the non significant ones are less likely to be studied publication bias
What is a table and purpose
A way of presenting raw or summary data
What is a graph
Summarise data allow for researcher to see a trend
Examples
Barchart
Histogram
Line graphs
Scattergram
What is a bar chart
Common five marker to draw it
Visually represent data of two categories (discrete categories)
DV plotted on the vertical y-axis and the IV on the horizontal x-axis
BARS DO NOT TOUCH
Label
Histograms are
Like bar charts
But display continuous data
So the bars are touching
What are line graph
Used to represent continuous data
Represent the chance if something over time
Scattergram
Have to be able to draw
Represent correctional data
Show relationship between to two variables
Line of best fit
