FFP MD's 6 HRFPMD Flashcards
(93 cards)
T/F Prior to the designation of the Attack Stairway, all members must access the fire floor from same stairway
HRFPMD
True: Uncoordinated opening of apt & stairway doors may cause fire conditions to dramatically increase with little or no warning
Prior to advancing to reported fire floor in FPMD- members must _
Gather info from floor below or 2 floors below if scissor stairs present (location, letter designation, & # of stairways serving fire floor)
A priority when performing building inspection of HRFPMD should be _
To verify that stairways are correctly labeled. If mislabeled at fire/emergency IC must be notified IMMEDIATELY
When is Vertical Ventilation performed at HRFPMD
Only at direction of IC. Must be coordinated w/Eng & Lad Off operating in the fire sector or the Fire Sector Supervisor 6.2.2
Windward vs Leeward side- Which one is high pressure & which is low pressure
Windward side= High pressure;
Leeward side= Low pressure
Can stairways be used to vent fire floor HRFPMD
Only stairways other than Evacuation stairs, usually done when main body of fire controlled & authorized by IC. May be done before attack ops commence w/use of PPV
How shall elevators be operated at HRFPMD
Personnel exit at least 2 floors below fire & survey layout of stairs & hallways on floor below fire. FF operating Fireman Service returns elevator to lobby, If NO Firemen service return to lobby unstaffed
If fire is on _ floor or below, stairs shall be used.
What is done w/elevators even if they are not used?
HRFPMD
7th/below;
Recall elevators. 2nd Lad shall ensure all elevators recalled & searched.
NOTE: IC must ensure all elevators are recalled, searched, & controlled early in operation & prevent civilians from entering
Can the door to elevator machinery room at roof levels be used for ventilation purposes HRFPMD
Should NOT until fire is under control. Once under control, it can be used as long as wind will NOT force smoke back into building
One Elevator available w/Eng & Lad arriving together and NO Firemen Service- who enters; what if there is Firemen Service? HRFPMD
Lad Off & 2 FE FF’s along w/Eng Off & 2 FF (Noz & Cont) w/Roll ups and standpipe kits.
Firemen Service- As long as NO outside ops OV will operate reducing 1 Eng FF (OV places elevator into Phase II)
What if the 1st OV is involved w/outside ops & fire is above 7th floor- who now operates elevator cars HRFPMD
Members from 2nd Truck &/or other members designated by IC
How many Elevators shall be in Firemen Service Phase II
HRFPMD
At least 2
If more than 1 FF service elevator is available what is their proper positioning HRFPMD
1 Elevator on standby in lobby & 1 two floors below fire
If Safe Refuge Area needed in HRFPMD select _
Door on same side of building or fire apt
10-77 is notification for a fire in HRFPMD _’ or more in height. It shall provide sufficient units to initially manage _
Fire visible upon arrival HRFPMD
75’/more;
Medium fire & smoke condition
10-77 (Not for smoke)
FAST Unit & CFR Eng shall be assigned to _ when fire is above the _ floor
FAST Unit should carry _ at HRFPMD
Fire Sector; above 6th floor (stay on floor below fire for rapid deployment)
Elevator keys
HRFPMD: if _ length stretch is insufficient ID theses buildings to all 1st alarm units & enter into CIDs program. What else shall be entered in CIDS
More than 3 lengths;
Variations from stretching from standpipe outlets on floor below fire due to building configuration (shall also be approved by Division Commander)
In HRFPMD who selects the Attack Stairway
Who notifies 2nd Eng & IC designation of Attack Stairs
Engine & Ladder Officer (Does NOT need have a standpipe outlet like Hi Rise E)
1st Engine Officer
What factors determine where 2 1/2” HL is stretched & charged
Control of fire apt door by Lad Company. If apt door controlled then stretch & charge HL at that location, otherwise, charge in Attack Stairway and wait for Ladder to locate and control fire apt door
When can Control FF leave his position at standpipe outlet
HRFPMD
Until relieved by Off & Cont FF of 2nd Eng (It remains 1st Cont FF responsibility to ensure a proper hookup to hose outlet)
Who shall ensure Siamese is supplied at HRFPMD
2nd Engine Officer must obtain _ at HRFPMD
2nd Engine
Post Radio from 1st BC & bring it to the standpipe outlet where 1st HL is being connected & est communication link on Command Channel
The stretching & operation of 2 HLs at HRFPMD may require transmission of
2nd HL at HRFPMD are usually stretched from 2 floors below fire & require additional lengths. Where shall these lengths be added
Additional alarms
Between the last length of 2 1/2 HL & standpipe outlet (additional lengths from 2nd or 4th Eng)
The 2nd HL shall be charged where?;
What may happen when this line is charged
Stairway door to fire floor;
Pressure in 1st HL may drop- Control FF & 1st Eng Off should be notified
Uses for 2nd HL: HRFPMD
BU 1st HL,
Advance w/1st HL,
Operate into a breach in adjoining apt while 1st HL protects hallway, or
Used on floor above due to auto exposure/extension via voids
