Q

What are Freud’s stages of psychosexual development?

A
  1. Oral (child fascinated with putting things in their mouth)
  2. Anal (child can keep excrement inside until they feel contractions)
  3. Phallic (boys see differences in their body to girls and fear the girls have been castrated. The Oedipus Complex arises and they begin to see their father as a rival)
  4. Latency (child’s interest is diverted to other interests and hobbies like sports)
  5. Genital (sexual desire increases but towards people who resemble them)

Q

Findings for Hans’ phobias

A

He was fearful of horses with blinkers because they resembled his father with glasses
He was scared of being let go in the bath by his mother because he secretly wished that would happen to his sister so that he wouldn’t have to share her attention - and then was being punished for that wish
