- Spreads the Liver, relieves constraint, and opens the orifices (for mental confusion and mental disturbance); addresses hot phlegm obstructing the heart orifice, damp-warm febrile diseases with unconsciousness and delirium, anxiety, agitation, epilepsy, and madness
- Benefits the Gallbladder and reduces jaundice— jaundice from damp heat in the Liver and Gallbladder channels or gallstones
- Cools the blood and stops bleeding; addresses bleeding due to blood heat. Used especially for vomiting blood and nosebleeds due to Liver Qi fire rising and bloody Lin syndrome
