Into two halves called the cerebral hemispheres
What is the cerebral cortex’s jobs
• centre of conscious thought
• Recalls memories
• alters behaviour in the light of experience
There is a localisation of brain functions in the cerebral cortex, but what does this mean?
It means specific areas of specific functions
What do they contain?
Sensory areas- receive sensory impulses from receptors/sense organs
Motor areas
Send impulses to muscles and glands
Association areas
They make links with the cortex to allow language processing of information, personality imagination, and intelligence
What is the cerebra formed into?
Two cerebral hemispheres
Information from one side of the body is processed in the
Opposite side of the cerebrum
Where does the transfer of info between the cerebral hemispheres occur?
Through the nerve tissue called corpus callosum
