What does the gram stain do?
Divides all bacteria to gram postive, gram negative
26
What is the purpose the gram stain?
helps decide what type of antibotics to prescribe
27
What are the six general characteristics of the protists?
1. Strutually more complex than bacteria 2. Unicelluar (single celled) or colonial 3. Photosynthetic, some hetertrophic 4. Motilize to non moltile 5. Species have both sexual and asexual reproduction 6. Most are aquatic organisms
28
Scientists beleive all organisms stem from...
a single protist ancestor
29
What are the three groups of protists, and what are they based on?
1. Plant like 2. Animal like 3. Fungi based on what they resemble
30
How do fungi move?
Slime things
31
How is a common mushroom formed?
Spore lands somewhere, spore will produce a single hyphae. Produces the mycellium mass which compacts to form the fruiting body or mushroom. Under the gills of mushroom is where spores form and they are released into the air (sexal reproduction) if you pluck the mushroom and it grows back asexual reproduction.
