Strategies to build motivation?
Knowledge – Provide relevant, specific info
Attitudes – Highlight personal benefits, substitute options
Normative Beliefs – Show approval from others, shift environments
Identity & Values – Align goals with self-image, point out contradictions
What is self-efficacy?
Belief in one’s ability to execute behaviors needed to reach a goal
Four sources of self-efficacy?
Mastery experiences (success builds confidence)
Vicarious experiences (learn from similar others)
Verbal persuasion (credible encouragement)
Emotional regulation (managing mood/arousal)
What are the two steps for action?
Skills assessment (motor, social, self-care)
Skills teaching (instruction, demo, practice, feedback)

Behavior patterns

Well-being over time
