1
Q

How do you calculate genetic distance using recombination frequency?

A

genetic distance = # of recombinants/total offspring X 100

2
Q

What is positional cloning and why is it preferential to use it in humans over calculating recombination frequency as was done with flies?

A

Positional Cloning is a way to map and isolate disease genes using marker genes. It is preferential over recomb frequency calculations because it is hard to control human mating, humans produce a small number of offspring in each generation, and the time between generations is long.

3
Q

Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy shows a(n) X-linked ______ mode of inheritance.

A

Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy shows an X-LINKED RECESSIVE mode of inheritance

4
Q

Huntington’s disease, and Osteogenesis Imperfecta show a(n) ______ ______ mode of inheritance.

A

Huntington’s disease and Osteia Imperfecta show an AUTOSOMAL DOMINANT mode of inheritance.

5
Q

Cystic Fibrosis shows a(n) _____ _____ mode of inheritance.

A

Cystic Fibrosis shows an AUTOSOMAL RECESSIVE mode of inheritance.
