Menti WS W9 Flashcards
(7 cards)
What is dihydroxylation?
two hydroxyl groups (–OH) are added to a carbon–carbon double bond (C=C), converting an alkene into a vicinal diol
What is hydroxylation?
hydroxyl group (–OH) is introduced into an organic molecule. This transformation typically involves the conversion of a hydrogen atom (–H) into a hydroxyl group
What is N – Dealkylation?
an alkyl group (such as –CH₃ or –CH₂CH₃) is removed from a nitrogen atom
What is epoxidation?
alkene is converted into an epoxide
What is O – Dealkylation?
alkyl group (like –CH₃ or –CH₂CH₃) is removed from an oxygen atom
Which of the following conversions does not involve CYP enzymes?
O-dealkylation
N-dealkylation
Glucuronidation
N-oxidation
Epoxide hydrolysis
Glucuronidation and epoxide hydrolysis
Why do patients become ill if they drink alcohol whilst taking metronidazole?
It inhibits aldehyde dehyrogenase
