Sildenafil MOA
Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor
During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide is released into the penis
The nitric oxide increases cyclic GMP
This causes the relax of smooth muscles and increased blood flow leading to an erection
PDE five breaks down CGM P ending the direction
Sildenafil blocks PDE5 allowing CGM P to remain active longer prolong direction
Sildenafil molecular mechanism
Mimics CGM P allowing it to bind to the PDE five enzyme
Prostate symptoms score
Questionnaire to assess the severity
Seven questions for seven symptoms scored from 0 to 5 to give a total range of 0 to 35
0–7 = mild
8–19 = moderate
20–35 = severe
