Applied behind ear, 4-6 hrs prior to need

Don't cut patch, alternate ears and wash hands afterwards

Children, esp < 2 yrs

Bcuz of risk of respiratory depression

What's the similarity btw scopolamine (Transderm Scop) and all antihistamines used in motion sickness?

All have anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, dizziness, constipation, confusion - in elderly, stinging eyes - if touch eyes after handling patch)

How soon b4 travel should oral meds be taken?

30-60 mins prior

What should pts be told may occur after they used motion sickness meds?

They may feel tired

What should be avoided with Transderm Scop use?

Alcohol

Where is Transderm Scop applied?

Behind ears (press for 30sec)
