Positive test for ATFL
Excessive movement or pain suggests a tear or laxity of the ATFL.
Positive test for CFL, PTFL and deltoid ligaments. (Talar tilt test)
Pain or excessive movement indicates a possible CFL injury.
Positive test for syndismosis (squeeze test)
while the patient reports pain, can indicate a syndesmotic sprain (high ankle sprain).
Positive test External Rotation Stress Test (Kleiger’sTest): tests for syndesmosis
Pain or displacement of the ankle mortise suggests a syndesmotic injury.
Positive test for Thompsons test (Achilles tendinitis/ rupture)
If the ankle doesn’t plantarflex (point downward), it suggests a possible Achilles tendon rupture.
-tendinitis ( palpating for tenderness, and checking for swelling or redness around the tendon if present it means positive)
Positive test for plantar fasciitis
Tenderness is typically found along the plantar fascia, especially at its insertion on the heel bone.
Test for plantar fasciitis
-can palpate sole of foot
- or windlass test (drifted big toe extending the metatarsophalangeal joints. Stretches the plantar fascia and can reproduce pain if present). Means positive test.
