Q

Injection site prep knee

_____ knee

Limb if interest _____ to dr of interest

____ site

Dry with ____ and drape _______ drape

Positive contrast drawn up ____ml with ____ml syringe and ____gauge needle ( dr injects medial side and moves knee cap around)

Local anesthetic injected with ____ml syringe with ___or ___gauge needle

If double contrast ___to ____ cc of air/ ___cc contrast

Then ______ knee

A

Shave knee

Limb if interest closer to dr

Clean site

Drry with gauze and drape fencestarted drape

Positive contrast drawn up 5 ml with 10 ml syringe and 18 gauge needle ( dr injects medial side and moves knee cap around)

Local anesthetic injected with 10 ml syringe with 21 or 25 gauge needle

If double contrast 80 to 100 cc of air/ 10 cc contrast

Then exercise knee

Q

Needle placement and injection process for knee joint

Patient instructed relax knee so patella can be dislocated ______ while needle advance into joint

Prep site , then dr introduces _____gauge needle into joint space

Joint ____ aspirated normal _____ color but abnormal if _____ color

Positive contrast then introduced into joint through ____gauge needle

If dual contrast exam , ____ml syringe is used to inject negative contrast

After injection, needle is removed and the ______ wrapped around the distal femur to collapse femur/ dissolve area of suprapatellar bursae or use resistance band

A

Patient instructed relax knee so patella can be dislocated lateraly while needle advance into joint

Prep site , then dr introduces 20 gauge needle into joint space

Joint fluid aspirated normal clear but abnormal if cloudy

Positive contrast then introduced into joint through 20 gauge needle

If dual contrast exam , 50 ml syringe is used to inject negative contrast

After injection, needle is removed and the ace bandage wrapped around the distal femur to collapse femur/ dissolve area of suprapatellar bursae or use resistance band
