Transiet Ischemic Attack
Mini stroke
only lasts a few minutes
Symptoms occur suddenly but only last for a few hours or a day
What is a warning sign that someone is at risk for a serious stroke

most common type
due to embolism or thrombosis of cranial arteries
Hemorrhagic Stroke
bleed secondary to hypertension, ot aneurysm, or an arteriovenous malformation (AVM, which occurs congenitally)
F.A.S.T warning
F= face drooping
A=Arm weakness
S=Speech difficulty
T = Time to call 911
Middle Cerebral Artery Stroke (MCA) Symptoms
contralateral hemiplegia, hemianesthesia, homonymous hemianopsia
Aphasia (most common in L MCA)
Unilateral neglect (most common in R MCA)
Bilateral apraxia (most common in L MCA)
Left apraxia (most common in R MCA)
Internal carotid artery (ICA) stroke symptoms
similar to MCA
Anterior cerebral artery (ACA) symptoms
contralateral hemiplegia
grasp reflex
incontinence
confusion
mutism
Posterior cerebral artery (PCA) symptoms
homonymous hemianopsia
thalmaic pain
hemisensory loss
alexia
