(19 cards)
parts of the scapula
spine, supraspinous fossa, infraspinous fossa, supraglenoid tubercle, acromion, glenoid cavity
Parts of dog humerus
greater tubercle, head, lesser tubercle, teres major tuberosity, deltoid tuberosity, medial epicondyle, condyle, lateral epicondyle
bones of shoulder joint
synovial ball and socket joint, head of humerus and glenoid cavity of the scapula
Shoulder joints other names
glenohumeral joint or scapulohumeral joint
Supraspinatus
origin - supraspinous fossa
insertion - greater tubercle of humerus
action - extension of the shoulder
Teres major
origin - caudal border of scapula
insertion - teres major tuberosity
action - shoulder flexion
another name for elbow joint
humeroradioulnar joint
parts of the dog elbow joint
distal humerus, later collateral ligament, radius, ulna, joint capsule, biceps crachii, medial collateral ligament
Parts of the ulna and radius
olecranon, anconeal process, trochlear notch, lateral styloid process (ulna), medial styloid process (radius)
Triceps brachoo
origin - causal boarder of scapula and proximal humerus
insertion - olecranon of ulna
Action - extension of the elbow or flex the shoulder
Biceps Brachii
origin - supraglenois tubercle of scapula
insertion - radial and ulnar tuberosity (cranial, medial)
Action - flex elbow and extend the shoulder
Supinator
origin - lateral epicondyle of humerus
insertion - cranial radius
action - supinate ante brachium (turn inwards)
Pronator teres
origin - medial epicondyle of humerus
insertion - cranial radius
action - pronate the ante brachium (turn outwards)
Carpal joints
- antebrachiocarpal joint
- middle carpal joint
- carpometacarpal joint
Antebrachiocarpal joint
between the distal radius/ulna and the carpal bones
middle carpal joint
between the two rows of carpal bones
carpometacarpal joints
between the distal row of carpal bones and the metacarpals
Flexor carpi ulnaris
origin - medial epicondyle of the humerus
insertion - accessory carpal bone
action - flex the carpus
extensor carpi radialis
origin - lateral epicondyle of the humerus
insertion - metacarpal bones 2 and 3
action - extens the capus
