-learners may lose concerntration
when is manual guidance used?
when skills learnt are complex or dangerous
what are advantages of manual guidance?
-builds confidence
-eliminates danger, reduces fear and increases feeling of safety
what are disadvantages of manual guidance?
-learner becomes dependent on support and it interferes with kineastetic awareness
-proximity of coach may be upsetting
what’s mechanical guidance?
involves the use of equipment to help support the learner when practicing the skill
what are advantages of mechanical guidance?
-promotes confidence and ensures safety for the learners
what are disadvantages of mechanical guidance?
-learner can become dependent on equipment
-the feel of the movement with the guidance is different to actual movement
