Define the concept of ethics and discuss what ethics is not.
Ethics are the principles that define behaviour as right, good and proper.
Ethics are not laws, people’s feelings or religion.
List and describe the 4 important ethical decision-making frameworks.
Deontology - a belief that rules should be used to distinguish right from wrong.
Consequentialism - the belief that ethical decisions are based on the consequences of one’s actions.
Virtue ethics - a belief that making good choices based on good character traits helps us become better humans.
Theory of justice - a belief that all humans should be treated the same, except those with situational differences.
