Valvular Hrt Dis (Tricuspid ) Flashcards
(5 cards)
What is tricuspid stenosis (TS)?
A narrowing of the tricuspid valve opening, often associated with mitral stenosis
Commonly caused by rheumatic fever.
What is a common cause of tricuspid stenosis?
Rheumatic fever
Almost always associated with mitral stenosis.
What is tricuspid regurgitation (TR)?
A condition where the tricuspid valve does not close properly, allowing blood to flow backward into the right atrium
Associated with right ventricular dilation and pulmonary hypertension.
What are the causes of tricuspid regurgitation?
Marked right ventricular dilation and pulmonary hypertension
These conditions can lead to the failure of the tricuspid valve to close properly.
What are signs of right ventricular failure associated with tricuspid valve problems?
Hepatomegaly and edema
These symptoms indicate fluid overload due to heart failure.
