Mughal Empire in India
Main religion of Mughal Empire was Hinduism - a polytheistic religion based on a cycle of reincarnation
but there were a substantial amount of Muslims in India. Their religion was Islam - a monotheistic religion from the Middle East teaching that Allah is God and Mohammad is his prophet.
Conflicts between Hindus and Muslims were one of the reasons centralized power in India was difficult to maintain.

Buddhism - religion from India (although never the main religion there) teaching the Eightfold Path as a means to reach Nirvana (enlightenment).

Monotheistic religion formed in the Punjab region of India in the 15th Century (during the Mughal empire). A.P.World History describes Sikhism as a syncretic religion resulting from the combination of Islam and Hindusm, even though most Sikhs do not view their own religion this way.
Protestant Reformation
The Protestant Reformation swept across Europe in the 1500s, led by Martin Luther. This reformation had a profound and lasting effect on Europe, creating alternative Christian churches and removing the Roman Catholocism as the default Christian religion for all of western Europe.
