Imperialism
The policy of establishing overseas empires.
Sino-Japanese War
War between China and Japan over Japan’s incursion into China. Japan won, and gained control over Korea.
After gaining control of Korea, Japan also seized control of what country known as Formosa until the end of World War II.
Taiwan
Colonizers saw themselves as benevolent protectors of the countries they invaded. What were a few of the messed up ideas that made colonizers think they were superior to the people native to the countries they invaded.

Dutch company created by the Dutch government that monopolized trade from the Cape of Good Hope to to the Southern Tip of Africa.
Social Darwinism
Theory adopted by advocates of the idea that the superiority of whites was the reason behind the spread of European and U.S. power across the world. Darwin was not a Social Darwinist, but his theory of evolution was used to justify racist ideas.
