The Algerian War for Independence

A

Algerians wanted independence from France, but because so many French people lived in Algeria, France claimed that Algeria was part of France, not just a colony. France refused to allow Algeria to become a separate country. France eventually sent a million troops to fight the Algerians seeking liberation. A LOT of Algerians died in the war and not many French troops died.
