How are most breast tumors biopsied?
Most are detected as micro calcifications on mammogram a stereotactically biopsied by the radiologist.
Current treatment recommendation for breast cancer?
Lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy and radiation therapy. Note that the sentinel node biopsy is used to differentiate between the need for hormonal therapy or chemotherapy.
Treatment for DCIS?
Surgery plus whole breast radiation
Treatment for BRCA + cancer?
Mastectomy + reconstructive surgery
When do you use MRI for DCIS?
Dense breasts and use of detection when cancer is detected on the contralateral side.
