what are particular others?
they are specific people who are significant to us
what is a direct definition?
it is a communication by others that tell us who we are by labelling us and our behaviours
what is reflected appraisal?
it is another persons view of us that affects how we see ourselves
what are identity scripts?
they are the rules to living and identity
quickly go over uppers, downers, self-fulfilling prophecies and vultures
-uppers: communicate positively
-downers: communicate negatively
-vultures: communicate negatively -and harmfully
-self-fulfilling prophecies: acting in other peoples expectations or judgment about us
what are attachment styles?
they are patterns of caregiving that teach us who we are and how to approach relationships
what are the 4 attachment styles?
-secure attachment (positive)
-fearful attachment (negative)
-dismissive attachment (positive-negative)
-anxious/ambivalent attachment (negative/positive)
what is the generalized other?
it reflects the views that are held by others in a society

what is the purpose of the johari window?
it is to demonstrate the importance of open communication and offers us tools we can use to expand our knowledge.

it is information we know about ourselves, that we choose to hide from others
