What is ethnonational conflict?

Conflict occurring between different nations

What is ethnonationalism?

A powerful emotional attachment to one's nation that occurs when a minority nation within a state feels different from the rest of the state's people

What is self-determination and what can it lead to?

When a minority feels that they do not have enough self-determination, or the power to control their own territory and destiny, ethnonationalism can lead to conflict

The Chechen people in Russia have a violent history with the russian government

A movement by a nation to reunite its parts when they have spread across other borders

What is a satellite state?

A country controlled by another, more powerful state

A region where boundaries are very thinly or weakly developed, zones where territoriality is unclear and not well established
