what is CRI?
A
a method of administrating drugs at a constant dose over a period of time
can be used for anesthesia, analgesia, insulin, etc
can be administrated through an IV pump, syringe pump, piggyback, burette, or gravity drip

why would you use a CRI?
A
to keep a stable level of a drug in a patient’s blood
lower dosage delivered at any given time resulting in a lower incidence of dose-related side effects
greater control over drug administration
