Continually offended a scared parliment and his people who had anti Catholic beliefs which also impacted his financial issues.
James approach?
1604 wanted to unify England and Scotland but Parliament said no with the apolog of the House of Commons 1606 based on the savagery of Scotland and poor economy
Averted war with Sweden and Denmark 1613 - Parliament wanted to see more military intervention
James wanted to debate and have a peaceful co existence between everyone whether it was religion or Scotland and England unification which parliment disagreed with.
Finances?
Mansfield and Cadiz 1624 - James was adamant that Buckingham ran them which caused financing issues w parliament
Underfunding of Mansfield and Cadiz - parliament gave Buckingham 1/4 of what Charles wanted to him because of a lack of trust
Extravagance and friendship with Buckingham made it hard for parliament to fund foreign policy which was a cause and symptom of James issues w Parliament.
