Puritans - Bancrofts canons, abbot 1610, declaration against preachers 1622 - less successful over time
Catholics - gunpowder plot assasinations attempt but dealt with increasingly well during his reign after oath of allegiance and executions
Armenians - William laud appointed and Montague controversy 1625
Failure due to only containing the puritans rather than addressing them which built up resentment and issues for his son

King James Bible 1611 unaltered by radical puritans and pleased moderate ones while also pleasing the general public
