Bancrofts canons 1603 - hardened resistance towards James, despite the withdrawing of them (had to conform to new prayer book or fired)
Archbishop of Canterbury 1610 - puritan so shows representation of them in govt
Montague controversy 1625 - James gave an ambivalent answer to whether puritans were anarchic
Judgment - mistake of canons immediately hardened opposition

Millenary petition 1603 - made minimal changes to the Prayer book by debating with moderate puritans to look like he’s listening to them
King James Bible 1611 - gave puritans a role in its creation making them feel heard
Book of sports 1918 - watered down puritan requests which created issues with radical puritans that already had issues w him.
Interim judgement - identified and supported moderate puritans and alienated radical ones he was ok with fighting
