Glaucoma ass with inc fluid pressure in the eye.
- Closed angle glaucoma
- Open angle glaucoma

Close:
- Medical emergency. Appears sudden, is painful, and can cause visual loss quickly. The discomfort often leads pt to seek medical attention b/4 damage occurs

Open
- It progresses at a slow rate and pts don't notice they have lost vision until the disease has progressed.
- It's called the silent thief of sight.

Treatment:

- Closed glaucoma

Close glaucoma: reduce intraocular pressure
- Acetazolamide: 500mg IV x 1. Then 250mg PO QID
- Once intraocular pressure has started to fall:
Pilocarpine 4% topic QID
