As soon as they have teeth
Get them use to having something in their mouth

Why is not good to have soft beding with an infant?
They can suffocate on it
Should you sleep with infants?
No they should sleep in their own space and on their back
What direction should an infant car seat be facing?
In the back seat facing backwards until 2 years of age
if there is something a toddler should not have, how should it be stored
locked away not just out of reach
ex: meds, poisons, cleaning sprays, firearms (even better not in the house at all)

Avoid or minimize extra stressors
Avoid unrealistic expectations
Make changes before the new child gets here so that there is not jealousy
Allow them to participate in playing or changing the baby – give them accolades
If someone comes to visit the baby bring something for the older child

-Reduces opportunities for negativism – do not give them a choice to say no with how you phrase things
-Ignore regression while praising existing patterns of appropriate behavior
