4 types of sickle cell crisis

with s/s

A
  • Bone crisis - involve bones in the back and large long bones in the arm and leg causing severe pain
  • Acute chest syndrome - involves sudden onset of chest pain, dyspnea, hypoxia, cough sometimes with blood, low grade fever could be present
  • Abdominal crisis - Sudden and constant abdominal pain. can be general or localized, N/V/D
  • Joint crisis - Acute onset of one or more painful, stiff joint
