Mechanism

A
  • Competitive inhibits NKCC2 in ascending LOH -> Stop sodium & potassium diffusion into the medulla -> Less water leaves at the descending LOH -> Polyuria

A

Common: Postural hypotension, GI disturbance

  • Hypokalaemia, hyponatraemia (short term)
  • Hypomagnesia, hypocalcaemia (long term)

Important: Hyperglycaemia, hyperuricaemia (gout)
