What is TACON?

A

Tactical Control is responsible for oversight of assigned assets as well as providing guidance as needed. TACON will normally operate from a location remote to the actual operational area. Larger ops may need a PATCOM to assist with the on scene coordination.

A

Naval Vessel Protection Zone, is a 500 yrd regulated area of water surrounding a U.S. Naval Vessel. When within a NVPZ all vessels shall operate at a minimum speed necessary to maintain a safe course. When within a NVPZ no vessel or person is allowed within 100 yrds without authorization.
