Flashcards in Resultant Forces Deck (9):
What is the Resultant Force?
The overall force on a point or object
How many forces are acting on an object is most real situations?
What does the overall effect of these forces have on an object?
Motion - accelerate, decelerate or a steady speed
If you have a number of forces acting at a single point/object, you can replace them with a [ ] force (so long as the single force has the same effect on the [ ] as the [ ] forces)
If the forces all act on a straight line (act in the same or opposite direction), how is the overall effect calculated?
By adding / subtracting them
Which direction does the force of gravity act in?
What is the reaction force?
It's the force from the surface pushing up on an object
Gravitational force = Reaction force then the resultant force = [ ] and the object is [ ]
