Royal charter requires RICS to promote the usefulness of the profession for the advantage of the UK public.

What is RICS MATRICS?
Support for early surveyor careers, runs networking events etc.
Can you give me an overview of the RICS governance structure.
Governing council - responsible for approving RICS strategy and overseeing delivery of strategy.
RICS board - Audit, risk, finance committee, Knowledge and practice committee
Standards and regulation board - Assessment committee, Dispute resolution, CPD framework group.
What is the role of the standards and regulation board?
Has exclusive responsibility for exercising RICS regulatory functions. Oversees the activities of RICS professional standards entry and admission.
The board is independently led and is accountable to the governing council but not dictated by the governing council.
Can you explain the Levitt Review?
The Levitt review looked into action by RICS. It identified a lack of clarity in the roles and responsibilities creating a power struggle. Suggested a further review be carried out into the RICS structure.
What is the Bichard Review?
Bought about following the Levitt review that identified a lack of clarity around roles. Recommended :
- increase focus on public interest- public interest panel to advise governing panel.
- maintain self regulation through greater independence for regulatory functions.
- Diversity and inclusion committee
- Reconstruction of the governance structure more clear and accountable.
