(28 cards)
LDAP
(Lightweight Directory Access Protocol). A protocol used to access and manage directory services, like user and device information on a network.
Li-Ion
(Lithium-Ion). A rechargeable battery type commonly used in laptops, smartphones, and tablets due to its high energy density and low weight.
Link Light
An LED indicator on networking devices (like NICs or switches) that shows a successful physical network connection.
Link-Local Address
An IPv6 address used for communication within a single local network segment; not routable outside the local link.
Linux
An open-source, Unix-like operating system used in desktops, servers, and embedded systems. Known for stability and flexibility.
Liquid Cooling
A system that uses liquid coolant to dissipate heat from computer components, typically CPUs and GPUs, offering quieter and more efficient cooling than fans.
Load Balancer
A device or software that distributes network or application traffic across multiple servers to improve performance and reliability.
Local Security Policy
A Windows feature that allows configuration of security settings like password policies and user rights on a local machine.
Local Share
A shared folder or resource on a local computer, accessible by other users over a network (usually in workgroups or home networks).
Local User Account
An account created on a specific device (not connected to a domain) that stores user settings and data locally.
Local Username
The name associated with a local user account, used to log into a specific device.
Local Users and Groups (lusrmgr.msc)
A Windows management console used to view and manage local user accounts and groups.
Location Data
Information about a device’s geographic position, collected using GPS, Wi-Fi, or cellular signals.
Locator Application
An app or feature that helps track or find the location of a device, such as Apple’s Find My or Google’s Find My Device.
Log Files
Files that record system, security, or application events, useful for troubleshooting, auditing, and monitoring system activity.
LBA
(Logical Block Addressing). A method used by storage devices to identify data locations using block numbers instead of cylinder/head/sector formats.
Logical Drives
Partitions on a physical hard drive that function like separate disks with individual drive letters (e.g., D:, E:).
Logical Security
Security measures that control access to computer systems and data, such as passwords, firewalls, and encryption.
LTE
(Long-Term Evolution). A high-speed wireless communication standard for mobile devices and data terminals, often referred to as 4G.
Long Range Fixed Wireless
A type of wireless internet connection that uses radio signals between stationary antennas to provide internet over long distances, typically in rural areas.
Loop
In computing, a sequence of instructions that repeats until a certain condition is met (used in programming and scripting).
Loopback Plug
A hardware diagnostic tool used to test network interfaces by sending signals back to the source for troubleshooting.
Loopback Test
A diagnostic test that sends a signal or data out from a device and immediately receives it back to check for faults in communication.
ls
A Linux command used to list files and directories in the current working directory.
