What does splinting do?

It immobilises the tooth in the correct anatomical position to prevent further trauma and allow healing

What are the two categories if splints?

Functional
Rigid

What is a functional splint?

When one tooth either side of the traumatised tooth is splinted

What is a rigid splint?

When two teeth either side are splinted

What should the splint allow re movement?

Needs to allow some movements to prevent ankylosis
