What is subluxation ?

Trauma to pdl resulting in some mobility but no displacement

What are the signs and symptoms for subluxation?

Mobility+
Displacement -
TTP+
Vitality: usually + but can possibly be negative initially which indicates increased risk of pulp death

Which tissues are affected?

Gingival : bleeding
Pdl oedema and bleeding
NVB damage possibly

When would yo take radiographs in subluxation?

4 weeks
6-8weeks
1 year

What treatment is needed for subluxation?

Review pulp vitality after 1 yr
Soft diet analgesics OHI
Possibly needs splint but not likely if so splint for 2 weeks only

What is the prognosis for subluxed teeth?

Westbury 2012
Open apex: 100%
Closed : 85

1 week
4 weeks
