German is a West Germanic language (just like English) and considered to be the European business language backed by Germany’s thriving economy. The official language in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol (Italy), parts of Belgium, and Liechtenstein; it’s notable like English for its broad dialects.

Surprisingly, German is only the twelfth major language spoken in the modern world with around 100 million native speakers. The language has many words derived from other languages including Latin, Greek, French and English.
