Describe the mechanism of a G-Protein coupled receptor in smooth muscle to release Ca2+
A
A ligand/neurotransmitter binds to a G-Protein coupled receptor on the cell membrane
This causes conformational changes which activate a G-protein which activates Phospholipase C
This then releases IP3 (Inositol Trisphosphate) which then sits on a receptor if the sarcoplasmic reticulum which releases Ca2+
