What is standard deviation used for?
It is used to quantify the amount of variation in a set of data.
What is variance? How do you calculate it?
Variance is the measurement of spread between numbers in data. You find variance by first finding the difference between each value and the mean of all of them. You then square each difference and find the mean of all of those.
How do you calculate standard deviation?
You calculate it by taking the square root of the variance.
What is a qualitative observation? Give an example.
It is an observation that describes a characteristic of what something is. Ex. The desk is black.
What unit is used to measure length?
Meters
What is the formula to calculate Celsius to Fahrenheit? Use that formula to turn 64 degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit.
the formula is F= C(9/5) + 32.
64 degrees C= 147.2 degrees F.
How many base units is centi?
1/100 base units?
If your mass was 90kg on earth how much would your mass be on the moon? Why?
It would still be 90kg because gravity does not effect a persons mass.
What is an independent variable?
It is the variable in an experiment that is being manipulated.
What is the dependent variable and what axis does it belong on?
It is the variable in an equation that is the effect of whatever the independent variable does. It goes on the X-axis.

nano and 10^-9
What is the most precise ruler we use in class?
The hundredths ruler.
