What does biodiversity mean?
Diversity of life
Why is a high level of biodiversity important to a community?
It helps with evenness and helps keep one species from taking over.
Name some direct and indirect benefits of biodiversity.
We get food, shelter, and medicine. And indirect benefits include clean air and water, and increased soil health.
What is species richness and how does it relate to biodiversity?
it is the number of different species in a community and it relates to biodiversity because often if you have a higher richness the biodiversity will be higher because there will be more life overall.
What is species evenness?
It is the proportion of a species within a community.
How does the size of a population relate to genetic diversity?
If the size of a population is higher the genetic diversity will be higher because there will be more chances of diversity within species.
If there are 5 species and 50 organisms in each species what is the evenness of that species?
Evenness=1
What is ecological succession?
It is a change in the make up of a community.
Why does secondary succession happen so much quicker than primary succession?
Due to the soil already being their because of the previous community the organisms are able to grow quicker.
