4.1 SG Flashcards
(9 cards)
What is the photosynthesis equation?
sunlight+carbon dioxide+water-> oxygen+glucose.
What is the cellular respiration equation?
glucose+oxygen->carbon dioxide+water+energy
What do NPP and GPP stand for?
NPP= Net primary production
GPP= Gross primary production
Why do the levels of the food chain lose energy as it goes up? And on average what percent of one levels energy is transferred to the next?
They lose energy as they go up because the consumers before lose energy through cellular respiration like their heat energy and waste and it goes into the atmosphere instead of the next consumer. Only about 10% is transfered from one consumer to the next.
If the producer of a food web has 2,600 units of energy using the 10% rule how many will the secondary consumer have?
26 units of energy.
How are the products of cellular respiration released from the body?
Through breathing and when heat is released.
What are the products of cellular respiration?
Energy, water, and carbon dioxide.
What energy is going in and what energy is going out during photosynthesis?
Light energy is going in and chemical energy is going out.
