4.2 SG Flashcards
(9 cards)
What happens in nitrification?
Nitrogen is converted into ammonia nitrates.
What happens in denitrification?
It converts nitrate into atmospheric nitrogen gas.
What are the inputs and outputs of photosynthesis?
Inputs include sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water. While outputs are oxygen and glucose.
What are the inputs and outputs of cellular respiration?
The inputs are glucose and oxygen. And the outputs are energy in the form of heat and waste, carbon dioxide, and water.
What organisms perform photosynthesis?s
Producers like plants.
What organisms performs cellular respiration?
Most organisms performs cellular respiration including carnivores, herbivores, and even producers do.
How are the paths of carbon and energy similar in the carbon cycle?
They are both entered into atmosphere by photosynthesis.
How are the paths of carbon and energy different in the carbon cycle?
The effects of cellular respiration are different as energy is released as heat and carbon is released into the atmosphere.
Why will the test tube turn yellow when there is a plant and a snail in the dark?
It will turn yellow because the plant has no light to absorb so it cannot perform photosynthesis their for the carbon dioxide isn’t being absorbed by the plant either which makes the water acidic turning it yellow.
