Process by which people adapt to a loss
Traditional hospital

don’t focus on pain
Curative Care
Designed to overcome and cure diseases and illness
EX: Chemotherapy
Palliative Care
Focuses on providing comfort and relief from physical and emotional pain to patients throughout their illness, even while being treated
-not just for terminally ill patients
Hospice Care
Involves a team of professionals and volunteers who provide terminally ill patients with medical, psychological, and spiritual support, along w support for families
-home, nursing home, hospital
-Sometimes poor care provided
Active Euthanasia
Intentionally causing death, usually through a lethal dose of medication
Passive Euthanasia
Life-sustaining support is withdrawn
Physician-Assisted Dying
A physician prescribes the means by which a person can die
