A
  • Malignant neoplasm of the bone marrow
  • Overproduction of one type of white blood cell
  • Expand and replace normal bone marrow suppresing normal cells and platelets

Management of Leukemias

A
  • Vigilant of possible cases
  • Biopsy when gingival swelling unresponsive to treatment
  • Dental review and preventative treatment for patients having cytotoxic treatment
  • Excellent oral hygiene control
  • Chlorhexidine mouthwash during treatment
  • Antibiotic therapy
  • Extractions deferred
