OOM AGENT OF ‘DE STERKE ARM’?

Gisteren zag ik in onze straat een politieagent toen ik toevallig uit he raam keek.

Hij stond voor de deur van iemand die tegenover mij woont. Ik dacht meteen: O, o, zou die iets gedaan hebben?

`Laatst reed er op de weg een politieagent achter mij. Zodra ik hem in het oog kreeg, dacht ik direct: Rijd ik te hard, ging ik door rood, deed ik iets verkeerd?

Hebben jullie ook last van zo’n gevoel? Is dat een algemeen verschijnsel? Hebben jullie ook zulke ervaringen?

O ja, wanneer ik een agent zie, ben ik bang. Ook als ik mijn paspoort moet laten zien, zit ik in angst. Je weet maar nooit of er iets niet in orde is.

Hoe verklaar je dat veelmensen zo negatief reageren op de politie?

Volgens mij komt dat doordat je pas merkt dat er politie is als zich problemen voordoen. De politie verschijnt wanneeer mensen dingen doen die niet zijn toegestaan. Bijvoorbeeld bij geweld op straat, in een cafe of disotheek, waarbij met wapens wordt gestoken of geschoten. Vooral de laaste jaren is dat erger geworden.

Ook voor, tijdenns en na een voetbalwedstrijd zie je steeds vaker geweld. Zelfs lang nadat de wedstrijd is afgelopen, zeker als de tegenstander heeft gewonnen. De politie treedt in zulke omstandigheden op, en soms, als ze dat noodzakelijk acht, me harde hand.
