Flashcards in adrenergic 3 Deck (9):
1

Milrinone mechanism

1. PDE inhibitor
2. augments myocyte Ca utilization,
3. moderate peripheral vasodilation

2

Milrinone indication

ADHF short-term management - “Cold & wet”

3

Milrinone half life

1 hour, prolonged 2-3 hours if CrCl < 50 ml/min

4

Milrinone is recommended if

if receiving a B-blocker.

5

Milrinone side effects

1. Hypotension,
2. Thrombocytopenia,
3. Tachycardia,
4. Arrhythmias,
5. Fever,
6. Increased LFTs

6

inotropic agents are indicated for pt with

advanced HF and low output sydrome (LV dilation, reduced, decrease end organ dysfucntion)

7

inotropic agents are used to

1. To relieve symptoms and improve end-organ function
2. Patients with marginal systolic blood pressure (<90 mm Hg)
3. Patients with symptomatic hypotension despite adequate filling pressure
4. Unresponsive to, or intolerant of, intravenous vasodilators

8

Dopamine mechanism

endogenous precursor of norepinephrine-
excerts its effects by directly stimulating adrenergic
receptors, as well as, release norepi from nerve
terminals

9

Dopamine adverse effects

1. arrythmia
2. angina
3. increased heart rate
4. increased mean arterial pressure
5. Increased systemic vasculature
