What is the purpose of ADS?

A

Act as a backup to HPCI and perform the function of vessel depressurization for all small breaks within the containment or small breaks outside of containment THIS IS ECCS

What two indications does ADS use to determine the location of the leaks?

A

Uses -59 Lo-Lo Water Level and +2# DW Pressure.
If -59 w/ +2#, then inside DW.
If -59 w/out +2#, then outside DW.

What is the logic scheme for ADS, and what does that mean?

A

It is 2 out of 2 once - energized to actuate. This means that an initiation signal from either trip system will actuate

Which ERV’s have a time delay? How long? what is it for?

A

The B&C ERVs (low setpoint) have a 10 second time delay that prevents AUTO REOPENING on a demand signal from ADS.
Allows sufficient time for operation of vacuum breaker on relieve valve discharge.

DW Pressure Hi - 2# - This will initiate a 2 minute timer
2 minute time out
DW Reset Button NOT in Reset

Lo Pressure ECCS Pp Running - Measured at Pp Discharge as 100psig
ADS NOT IN INHIBIT

This allows both the 106 and 107 relays from EITHER ADS division to be energized and supply power to relief valve solenoids to open

Loss of backup to Div II
Auto switch of valve power to backup 2(3)B-1

A

Loss of main power for Div II - switch to backup 2(3)A-1

Loss of alternate power to valves

A

total indicated steam flow will go down and actual steam flow will not change
MWe will go down

A

ERV:
Auto - ADS and pressure relief functions work
Off - ONLY ADS WORKS
Manual - Valves Open
ADS
ADS INHIBIT - ADS Inhibited but pressure relief function still works unless ERV also in “OFF”
Normal: ADS works as indicated

What is normally done to the control switches if MCR evacuated?

A

ERV Valve switches placed in OFF and ADS in INHIBIT. ERVs stay closed. Target Rock will only work on SAFETY FUNCTION (1135psig)
